In her own words, it was “a long time between drinks” for Lisa Ramen, who today took out here third Headland Women’s Club Championship – a remarkable 18 years since her last victory.
Lisa did not have it all her own way though, and had relinquished her 2-stroke lead going in to the final round by the halfway point today. Six pars in the first seven holes of the back nine saw her wrestle the lead back from Annabel Harris, before a triple bogey at the 17th. A closing birdie, after hitting her tee shot to 220cm on the 18th saw the margin of victory settle at four strokes, with Annabel claiming the runners-up prize.
Lisa shot rounds of 92.85.90.87 – 354, to Annabel’s 90.92.87.89 – 358.
Lisa and Annabel also took home two trophies for senior players. Lisa won the highly south-after Amy Pincott Trophy, for the leading player over 60 years, while Annabel claimed the Rene Hedges Trophy, for the best nett score over the final 36 holes by over 60s.
Wil Sprake (101.99.102.92 – 354) took out B Grade from Kirsten Kaergaard (101.98.103.98 – 400), and Sue Briffa (109.107.112.107 – 435) won C Grade from Sue Harris (113.114.104.106).
